Squishies are made for squeezing, squashing and playing with, but a little bit of care will help keep your favourite one looking good and feeling great for longer.
The good news is that looking after a squishy is easy. A few simple habits can make a big difference.
Keep It Clean
Squishies can pick up dust, fluff and dirt over time, especially if they live on a desk, shelf or in a bag.
If yours needs a clean, gently wipe the surface with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid soaking it in water, and don’t put it in the washing machine unless the product instructions specifically say you can.
Once cleaned, leave it to air dry naturally.
Be Gentle With the Squeezing
Yes, squishies are supposed to be squeezed — that’s the whole point.
But try not to pull, twist or stretch them too aggressively. Repeated rough handling can cause the surface to split, tear or peel.
A good squeeze is fine. Trying to pull your squishy into another postcode probably isn’t.
Keep It Away From Heat
Try not to leave your squishy in direct sunlight, next to a radiator or somewhere that gets very hot.
Too much heat can affect the material and may cause the shape, colour or texture to change.
A cool, dry place is usually best.
Watch Out for Sharp Objects
Pens, keys, scissors, jewellery and other sharp items can easily damage a soft squishy.
If you carry yours in a bag, try to keep it away from anything that could poke or scratch the surface.
Give It Somewhere Nice to Live
When you’re not using your squishy, keep it somewhere clean and dry.
A shelf, desk, storage box or dedicated squishy collection space works perfectly. Keeping it off dirty floors and away from pets will also help it stay in better condition.
If It Gets Damaged
Squishies can wear over time, especially if they’re played with a lot.
If you notice cracking, splitting, peeling or pieces coming loose, it may be time to stop using it and replace it.
And remember — squishies may look like food, but they are definitely not for eating.
Most Importantly… Enjoy It
Squishies are meant to be fun.
Squeeze them, collect them, display them, swap favourites and enjoy finding the ones that make you smile.
With a little bit of care, your Squisheroo favourites should stay soft, colourful and satisfyingly squishy for as long as possible.
